We?re looking for Talented, Passionate Leaders with a proven record of delighting customers and growing sales.
In this exciting role,you will:
- Ensure that the department operates within the parameters of the Company?s mission, policies and department merchandising standards.
- Meet and communicate corporate expectations.
- Achieve and support company shrink initiatives.
- Refer to and understand relevant financial reports and act proactively to resolve problems.
- Stay current on new products and weekly & daily communication.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of all paperwork associated with the running of the department.
- Delegate duties and responsibilities.
- Develop weekly department schedule ensuring it reflects the needs of the customer, and that it is in line with sales projections, labour management guidelines, Company policies and Collective Agreement provisions.
- Recommend and set goals and objectives (including sales projections) for department and communicate these to store management and department employees.
- Ensure excellent standards and operating conditions (including storage areas/production areas/backrooms/coolers/freezers, etc?, where applicable).
- Ensure all cleaning and equipment maintenance is performed as per standard schedules.
- Ensure that all financial and personnel information is kept confidential.
- Open and lock up store, as required.
- Relieve management as required.
- Ensure that there is a consistent offering of high quality products available to the customer.
- Ensure the effective planning of ordering and execution of merchandising strategies to generate and maximize sales and profit while controlling shrink and labour.
- Maintain space allocations as specified by planograms.
- Rotate and reline stock, remove discontinued stock and products.
- Ensure correct prices and labels are in place.
- Put up stock.
- Maintain, build and re-merchandise end displays ? prepare the store to look like it is a new store opening every day.
- Re-line shelves to accommodate new product lines, discontinue items, which do not sell.
- Work overstock and take inventory as well as take shelf audits.
- Clean and face shelves, backroom clean up, assignment sheets.
- Motivate, coach, counsel and develop staff to instill teamwork, create high employee morale and encourage top performers. Document performance issues for potential discipline after all previous coaching attempts have failed. Work with store management in discipline discussions
- Adhere to the collective agreement in all dealings with employees.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Management experience in a fresh or dry goods retail department would be an asset including knowledge of purchasing, pricing and financial analysis.
- Previous retail work experience specific to night operations.
- Speed, efficiency while remaining neat and tidy
- Understanding and genuine concern for meeting the needs of the customer.
- Demonstrated merchandising and promotional skills.
- Excellent listening and communication skills.
- Ability to analyse and evaluate own work regularly.
- Ability to analyse, and evaluate the work of others as well as coach those people.
- Goal and achievement oriented.
- Working knowledge of the Collective Agreement.
- Knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Westfair, BDR, Telxon, Kronos and ELVIS would be an asset.
- Flexible and adaptable to change.

- Able to delegate duties and responsibilities (appropriate uses of resources and people).

- Knowledge of applicable legislation as it pertains to the retail food industry, i.e. Food Premises Regulation (food safety), Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations etc.
