The National Broadcast Reading Service Inc. (NBRS), a Federal not-for-profit company and charity, was established in 1989 to reduce media barriers faced by 5 million vision- print-restricted Canadians. Its mission is to partner with others to provide services and products that help Canadians living with disabilities and others to reduce or overcome barriers to visual, electronic and print media. Controlled by NBRS, The Accessible Channel (TAC) is a mandatory English-language digital television channel licensed to broadcast in open video description format to simplify access to a wide breadth of news, information, drama, entertainment and other television fare for its viewers.
Job Description / Responsibilities:
Directs and maintains the organizations Information Technology requirements, regional and head office, by participating in the development of the IT strategy, and by planning and implementing hardware, software, network and communication solutions to meet the requirements of the organization. Includes managing projects, by coordinating resources and timelines of staff, external consultants and other departments. Establishing operating standards and procedures, developing vendor relationships and maintaining all IT services including email, web, internet, desktops, etc by achieving Service Level Agreements.
Basic Requirements:

• Degree in Computer Science or related field


• 7 – 10 years experience in managing multiple IT disciplines, i.e software development, technical support, systems architecture etc. A broad understanding of computer systems, applications and operating systems.


• Planning, organizing and project management skills. Negotiating and managing third parties. Strong management and interpersonal skills. Communication skills, both written and oral – ability to present ideas in a business-friendly and user-friendly language.
